OxPOS Cashier Screen: Shifts, Sales and VAT Invoice
Video tutorial: open a shift in OxPOS, scan barcodes, park sales, take split payments and print a 5% VAT invoice with a QR code.
This is the practical cashier lesson for OxPOS: from opening the shift to completing the sale and printing a tax invoice. It is made for cashiers with no previous experience, and for owners who want to train new staff quickly.
Step by step
- Open the shift. Before the first sale, open a shift and enter the opening cash in the drawer. Every sale is then linked to the active shift.
- Find the product. Scan the barcode or search by name. Items go straight into the basket.
- Browse by category when an item has no barcode. Tap the category, then the product.
- Use the quick tools. Switch to grid view, park a sale to serve someone else, process a return, or open the sales history.
- Take payment. Choose the payment method. Quick cash buttons (50, 100, 200, 500) speed up change, and one invoice can combine several payment methods.
- Complete the sale and print. The receipt prints as a tax invoice with 5% VAT and a QR code.
- Close the shift at the end of the day. OxPOS shows expected versus actual cash and gives you an end-of-day report.

Tips for smoother checkouts
- Count the drawer honestly at opening. An accurate opening balance makes the end-of-day report meaningful.
- Park instead of cancelling. Parked sales keep the basket safe while the customer finds one more item.
- Give each cashier their own login, so every sale is credited to the right person.
